John Gunther Dean

John Gunther Dean (born February 24, 1926 in Germany) is a distinguished career United States diplomat. From 1974-1988, Dean served as the United States Ambassador to five different nations under four different U.S. Presidents.
He was appointed Ambassador to Cambodia in March 1974 and he served in that posting until the Embassy was closed and all US personnel were evacuated on 12 April 1975, 5 days before the Khmer Rouge entered Phnom Penh.

Zhou Enlai

Chinese politician (1898-1976), he defended Marxism and was one of the main founders of the Chinese Communist Party. Prime Minister from 1949 to 1976. The announcement of his death provoked repressed demonstrations.

Sim Sophal est comédien et acrobate. Il est formé au sein de l’équipe cirque de Phare Ponleu Selpak, où il travaille depuis 2000 en tant qu’acrobate. Depuis 2003 il participe à plusieurs tournées européennes et asiatique du cirque de PPS. En 2006, il passe une année d’étude circacienne en France. Il enseigne aujoud’hui le cirque à l’école de Battambang. Dans L’Histoire terrible… Il interprète trois rôles : Khieu Samphan, Zhou En Laï et le lieutenant, envoyé du colonel Um Savuth.

Mme Mom Savay

This fictitious character’s name is inspired by Madame Van Savay’s, who was a leading dancer of the Phnom Penh Royal Ballet.

Chea Ravy est comédienne. Sa carrière commence à l’école des arts Phare Ponleu Selpak (Battambang, Cambodge) où elle travaille dans l’équipe « Awareness Theatre » depuis 2001. De 2009 à 2010, elle étudie le chant classique khmer avec le Khmer Arts Ensemble de Prek Ho (Cambodge). Dans L’Histoire terrible… Elle interprète quatre personnages : le roi-père défunt Norodom Suramarit, Saloth Sâr (Pol Pot), Mom Savay et l’ambassadeur du Cambodge à Paris. En 2011 elle a été chargée par PPS de développer leurs activités dans le domaine du théâtre.

Le Général Van Tien Dung

Le Général Văn Tiến Dũng (1917-2002) est un général de l’Armée populaire vietnamienne et ministre de la défense de la République socialiste du Viêt Nam de 1980 à 1986.
Durant la guerre du Viêt Nam, il planifia l’offensive du printemps de 1975 qui provoqua la chute de Saïgon et la réunification du pays sous le régime communiste.
